VP, Finance

Reporting to the CEO and serving as an integral member of the executive management team, the Vice President of Finance will be responsible for the development of OPI’s financial management strategy and contribute to the development of the organization’s strategic goals. In addition to the strategic components, the VP will be charged with developing and implementing more sophisticated policies and procedures in the finance department. Key Result Area #1: Financial Management
 
Tasks and Activities:
 
Manage company full-cycle financial accounting activities for two corporate entities in Canada and the US
Manage and mentor the finance and administration team.
Manage grant funding (PIC, IRAP, PrairiesCAN programs) as well as SR&ED filings and returns
Coordinate the annual budget and forecasting process
Prepare annual review working papers
Ensure ERP and other systems are adequate for proper financial management of all manufacturing operations.
Key Result Area #2: Executive leadership
 
Tasks and Activities:
 
Participate at the leadership table, leading on finance and treasury discussions, and financing initiatives
Manage financial details of significant growth program
Manage working capital, cash flows and surplus cash investment
Develop performance measures for organizational accountability
Oversee risk management
Bring the finance voice to M&A discussions, and work to prepare company for potential onboard of equity partners.
Define, Build, and maintain executive dashboard in PowerBI utilizing appropriate development resources.
Key Result Area #3: Cost Accounting
 
Tasks and Activities:
 
Manage company cost accounting activities
Update product costs annually or as needed
Implement best-practices with respect to standard costing and inventory practices, both procedurally and within the ERP system.
Provide analysis, cost trends, utilization results
Coordinate and direct semi-annual physical inventory count and valuation with Production, finding and fixing root causes of discrepancies.
 
 
Key Result Area #4: Administration
 
Tasks and Activities:
 
Review staffing requirements and develop position descriptions for Accounting/Finance department
Review contracts and other legal documentation
Assist with improving processes and procedures
Annual review of corporate insurance needs and policy renewal
Work with Deloitte during the annual review and tax filing for OPI
Work with CBIZ for the Integris Federal and State tax filings
Assist Product team with the annual price list update

Skills & Qualifications:
  • 10 years experience in a senior financial position or post designation
  • Extensive SME full cycle accounting experience
  • Knowledge with extensive experience in Canadian and US financial and tax reporting
  • Extensive cash management experience
  • Extensive Manufacturing Operations experience
  • Knowledge of NetSuite ERP and Microsoft Office product suite, including Power-BI
  • Systems integration experience, with database management
  • Experience in SaaS-based recurring revenue, automated billing and subscription management
  • M&A experience
  • Superior analytical and financial modelling
  • Strong business sense and results oriented
  • Team player, with ability to motivate and lead the team
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills (team player)
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or a related discipline
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)
